A hand-made seasonal homestead designed to address urgent human challenges from the desert.
The Art Village in the Desert is Caravane Foundation’s flagship project designed for arid and semi-arid environments. It is assembled annually for human beings to gather, exchange knowledge and develop skills for living on Earth. It is a place to cultivate interconnectivity between the thoughts, words as actions we use live with ourselves, each other and nature.
The Village will host an annual Arts Residency, Learning Centre and Lodge. Craftsmen, craftswomen, designers, storytellers, entrepreneurs, architects, engineers, philosophers and activists will gather to address the human dilemma in one of the challenging places on the planet. Together, they will develop solutions to living together, as Caravane provides home hospitality and experiential tourism to guests from around the world.
The Village we are planning is a place where movements flourish in colour and form effortlessly. It is where there are no borders between consciousness, art and living. It is a place where children receive time, attention and care. A place where adults from around the world can be engaged and collaborative in living together.
Caravane’s first Art Village is expected to be in Khor Al Adaid, Qatar. It is one of the few places on Earth where sand dunes meet the rising and falling of sea tides.
We welcome ideas from artists, engineers, innovators, architects, educators and artisans who are invested in empowering the sense of belonging to Earth.
